There are times when a company needs to bring in people to take care of a project that normally would be working elsewhere. Since it is not going to be a permanent situation, they do not want the employee to move their household, but they will need a place to reside while working. Corporate rentals can be the answer to this dilemma.

It could be that the corporate office has decided to send someone to set up a new office, fill in when short staffed or provide extra input on solving a problem. It could be just one person or it could be a whole team. If the situation is going to last longer than a month or so, it is best if they can have a semi-permanent place to live and feel comfortable.

If this type of situation is not common, using an extended stay hotel might solve the problem. Most big cities have them, and they can be used by the week, month or longer. They are furnished and have a small kitchen are for preparing meals. They also have maid service available.

A bit more comfort can be found in an apartment complex. Managers will often allow shorter leases for a corporation, especially if it is a regular thing. If the situation will require many months of work, and the person travelling has a family, it is best if they are able to have their family with them at least part time. An apartment suits this better than a hotel.

An apartment can also be used to house more than one individual. They should each have their own bedroom, but can share common living spaces. The manager could be called upon to make sure the place is furnished so any employees would not have to move their belongings or buy new ones. If extended work travel is common within the company, it may be a good idea to have an apartment always available. The monthly rent may be lowered if there is a long term lease involved.

Depending on the location, an unused apartment could also be used as a benefit to employees. They could use the unit while taking a vacation. They would be responsible for transportation and food, but not have to worry about a place to stay.

Some companies will buy a house and then rent it out to employees that transfer to the location for a short time. This can be beneficial to both employee and employer. If the company bought the house when the market favored buyers, they can rent the house to employees at a rate much lower than the going rent for the area. Renting to the employee means they do not have to worry about the mortgage payment for that month.

Whatever the situation, corporate rentals are for keeping good workers where they need to be and comfortable. Depending on how often and for how long they are needed will determine what works best. They should be a benefit to the company as a whole, not a burden.
