Top Mexican Beach Getaways
One of the top beach destinations in the world is Mexico. Many of these beach resorts were previously small towns that gained popularity because of their natural beauty and splendor. From there, developers expanded the towns this time focusing on the tourism boom for the area. The following are the top beach destinations of the country.
Cancun. This is one of the most popular beach resorts in the country. It has been featured in many shows and films and is amongst the most popular beach destinations by tourists and locals alike. It has many beach resorts, nightclubs, shopping centers and other tourist driven activities. It has been known to be a party destination for spring break type activities but there are also a number of activities for the family to enjoy.
Playa del Carmen. Located to the south of Cancun, this was a former fishing village with simple appeal to become a city with cosmopolitan appeal. There are a wide range of accommodations and activities to be enjoyed, from simple walks at the beach or haute couture dining by the water.
Puerto Vallarta. The beauty of its beaches first garnered public attention through Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor back in the 1960s. Through the years, the area has retained its appeal with tourists and locals especially Bahia de Banderas with its cobblestone pavements, white walled homes, wrought iron overlooking balconies and red tiled roof of many of its landmarks. It is also known as the hub of cuisine in the area, with a great number of restaurants located in the area.
Los Cabos. This beach area is located at the intersection of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, at the southern end of Baja California Sur. This area is actually two cities, namely Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. This has become a favored destination for the rich and famous because of its picturesque landscapes and high-end resorts. There are just a few areas where tourists can swim but there are many activities to do such as sport fishing, whale watching and golf.
