You never know when you are going to be stranded for a long period of time. There are plenty of stretches of road that will put you several miles from the nearest town. If if they send a tow truck right away, you might have to wait for a couple hours. For this reason, you should always carry plenty of water and something to eat in case you've got to hang out for a while.

It's easy to stay safe when traveling by car. All you need is the right items, and you're good to go. If you already have these items in your car, then good for you. If you don't, you should go out and buy them immediately.
