You are probably planning a trip to Singapore in the future, especially since there are so many things to do there. The best way to really get to know any location that you are not familiar with is to take a look at it from a native's point of view. Here are just a few things to do on a visit to things to do in Singapore that are mostly free.

* Take your camera with you and head on down to Chinatown. Take some great photographs of the many shops you will find there, and don't leave out the 90 degree staircases since you will be showing everyone you know back home the uniqueness of this city. Be sure to take some photos of the elderly that are scattered throughout this area, you never know when you will be able to use them.

* Go mountain bike riding or just take a walk around Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and soak up the scents there. Bring along some water and sunshades too.

* Ride the ferry to Pulau Ubin to spend some time exploring the island. It only costs a couple of dollars and it will be well worth your investment. Rent a motorcycle or bike or take a cab for ease in traveling around the rough terrains, and be sure to visit the prawn farms and Malay kampong.

* Watch people get blessed while visiting Siang Lim Si temple at Toa Payoh. If you like, take the time to count the many deities inside the temple. That should occupy a good bit of time.

* Go swimming at East Coast Park.

* Step inside the Changi Prison to get a look at some of the photos from WW2.

* Embark upon a trip on a train to anywhere you like to go right from Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. That trip might be to Malaysia and you can return in a days time.

* Water ski at Pungol.

* For a thrilling adventure make a kite of your own and fly it in the open field of Marine South. Then enjoy a dinner of local cuisine at a steamboat restaurant that can be found close by.

* Spend some time at a Flea Market on Sungei Road. This is often called the Thieves Market because many things that can be purchased here are not purchased by merchants.

* Jog from Benjamin Sheares Bridge to Kallang River for a real adventure.

* Spend the day fishing at Pasir Ris Park.

* If you love vegetables and fruit, take a trip to the Tekka Market located at Serangoon Road. Be sure to check out the stalls that sell ready to eat foods and choose your favorite authentic Chinese cuisine.

If this is your first time to Singapore or your umpteenth time visiting there, you will enjoy this destination better if you take it in from a resident's point of view. Just be careful to discuss the above locations with someone who understands the areas better so that you will not put yourself at risk.
