The Amazing Power Of A Road Trip
Most everybody loves to travel. There's nothing like leaving work knowing that you won't be back for a few days. However, traveling doesn't come without it's problems. For example, if you are flying anywhere, you've got to put up with the whole airport hassle. If you are going somewhere, you'll likely have a long layover somewhere. If you want the excitement without having to deal with the horrible airport madness, then you need to take a road trip. They require little planning, and only an open mind. In this article, you'll learn how to have an amazing road trip.
The first thing you want to make sure to do is bring plenty of things to do in the car. Of course, with so many electronic gadgets and gizmos designed to keep the kids busy, this shouldn't be a problem. Also, bring things like comic books and puzzles, to keep the kids occupied.
One way to maximize the enjoyment of any trip is to buy special toys for the kids just before you leave. That way the novelty factor will (hopefully) last as long as the trip, and you'll get some great mileage out of your toy.
Another essential thing to do is to bring a DVD player. That way the kids can watch their favorite movies while you are busy driving up front. If you have more than one child, consider getting multiple DVD players. These are pretty cheap, you can easily get them for under fifty or sixty bucks. Just make sure to get a DVD player that has a headphone jack, so the kids can enjoy their movies in their own privacy.
Bring plenty of snacks is also an important thing. Just make sure you get the kind that are in individual size servings. Otherwise your car will quickly turn into a disaster area. There are plenty available, ask your grocer for help if you need some.
Obviously, frequent stops for the restroom will put the damper on any progress you are making toward your destination. For this reason, try and keep the kids from drinking too much. This can be tough, but one way around this is to only allow them to drink from single serving juice boxes, and closely monitor how many they drink over the course of your trip.
Whenever you stop, maximize the energy that your children can expend. For example, you wouldn't stop and take a rest in a public library. From your kids' point of view, this would be going from the frying pan into the fire. Choose a place where they can run around and scream as loud as they want. Give them time to expend all their energy, so you can get back in the car.
When the kids fall asleep, this is the time to make up some time. Drive as far as you possibly can without stopping. You don't wan to waste this golden travel time.
When you follow these tips, you can have a wonderful road trip. The kids will have fun, you'll maintain your sanity, and you'll get to go somewhere fun.
