Bali Travel Tips - How to Stay Safe While Traveling Indonesia
Bali, Indonesia is an exciting place to visit, but you have to be aware of some differences between this country and other places you have visited. With a bit of awareness, you can travel all throughout Indonesia, and especially through Bali, without putting yourself in any danger. This doesn't refer just to being robbed or mugged in a parking lot. It also includes protecting yourself from accidents that often occur when visitors are unfamiliar with the territory of Indonesia.
Here is a quick list of Bali travel tips that may prevent quite a bit of trouble on your trip:
1. The roads and sidewalks of Bali are not as smooth and easy-going as they may be in your suburban community back home. You may be used to going out for walks with the dog or pushing strollers easily along the pavement, but you may have more trips and stumbles in Bali. The pavement often drops off to sewers and other hazards, so you have to watch where you are going. This is especially true if you are walking around after dark or when pushing a stroller out in front of you. You don't want the baby to find the hole before you do!
2. A Bali luxury villa will be far safer and more comfortable than the cheaper hotels available throughout Bali. It is worth the extra expense to stay in a private villa where you know your belongings are protected and you are less likely to be at risk for violence. Bali far from the most dangerous place you could visit, but you will always be better protected in the more upscale villas.
3. The surf draws many visitors to Bali each year, but not all areas are suitable for novice surfers. There are some areas that get vicious tides at certain times of the year. While brave locals may be used to taking on these waves, someone less familiar with surfing may be in a lot of danger getting out there with them. Make sure to pay attention to the size and strength of the tide before you get yourself out there. Never assume it is safe just because the locals are out surfing.
4. Watch children playing along the edges of the ocean, even in seemingly safe beach areas. The swell and undertow can be quite vicious on the beaches of Bali, and children can easily be pulled out to see if it is too much for their weight. Pay attention to warnings and advisories related to the swell, and keep a firm grip on children if they are anywhere near the water.
5. Transportation is an exciting element of visiting Bali, but it can also turn into a danger if you are not paying enough attention. For example, there are motorbikes everywhere in Bali. There are also many bicycles, with buses on the street as well. Pay attention to where you are going at all time, or your risk being run over.
Keep these five tips in mind and your stay at a beautiful Bali luxury villa will be rewarding, relaxing, and completely safe.
