European Ski Vacations for Something Truly Adventurous
You've just won the super bowl, "what are you going to do now"? Do you answer Disneyland just because you're expected to or do you reach for your own dream and answer, "a luxury ski vacation in Europe"? Anyone can go to Disneyland, but not everyone can jet off for skiing in France or flit off to a Switzerland ski vacation.
While certainly, no one is knocking Disneyland, it truly is one of the happiest places on earth, and a great place to vacation, some occasions call for something a little more adventurous. America has its share of amazing ski resorts too with Vail, Park City, Telluride, Aspen, and Snowbird, to name a few, but have you ever tried skiing in an quaint village of 10,000 people with over 50 lifts high in the French mountains?
France offers many resorts with views that will astound you. Chamonix is the oldest ski resort in France. The highest run for strong intermediate skiers is Aiguille du Midi, reached by a two-stage cable car. This run gives you a 7,000-foot descent along the glacier of Vallee Blanche. The mountain sceneries are spectacular.
Courchevel is nestled in a series of villages from the 16th century. If you are looking for a family ski vacation, this picturesque little town offers "the Villages des Enfants" a protected ski area for children. Courchevel was one of the hosts of the 1992 Winter Games, so the nightlife, restaurant choices, and grooming facilities are fantastic.
If a Switzerland ski vacation is more your style your choices are just as wide. From Davos & Klosters, one of the original mega resorts, to Grindelwald a mountain village, to Interlaken a beautiful resort cuddled between the peaks of Wetterhorn, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. You can ski in the winter and use the same trails for breathtaking hiking in the summer.
You may not have just won the Super Bowl, but you can choose a vacation dream of your choice and flit off to European ski adventure.
